Partner With Me
Three distinct ways to bring new music into the world
This page outlines three distinct ways to partner with Peter Dickson Lopez. They are not interchangeable: each represents a different kind of creative and organizational commitment.
Lopez welcomes serious inquiries from orchestras, chamber ensembles, presenting organizations, and individual patrons. The partnership process is collaborative, transparent, and structured to serve the long-term benefit of both parties.
Category I
World Premiere Commission
Funds the creation of a genuinely new, not-yet-written work. The composer will write the work from scratch upon receipt of commission. These are works that do not yet exist in any form.
Applicable Works
Birds from Before Light
— Chorus, Soloists, Orchestra — Duration TBD
MISE-EN Series V
— Two Pianos, Two Percussion, Electroacoustic Devices — 15 min.
MISE-EN Series III
— Amplified Piano Quartet, Electroacoustic Devices — 12 min.
Category II
Cycle Extension Commission
Funds the writing of a new movement for an existing, partially-completed cycle. The architectural framework and earlier movements already exist; this commission extends the cycle into new territory.
Applicable Works
Magnificat Parts II–IV
— Chorus, Soloists, Orchestra — ~15–20 min./mvmt
Vocalise (SOTM VI)
— Chorus, Soprano, Tenor, Orchestra — ~20 min.
Seeking Serenity Part II
— Piano, Orchestra — 10 min.
Adagio No. 1
— Piano, Orchestra — 10 min.
MISE-EN II, Episode 2
— Amplified String Quartet, Electroacoustic Devices — 6 min.
Aujourd'hui — Parts 3–4
— Orchestra — 6 min.
The Consortium Model
For larger-scale works — particularly orchestral and orchestral-vocal works — Lopez has developed a consortium model that distributes the cost across multiple organizations, each of whom receives premiere rights within their own region and season.
Premiere Partner
$5,000
Consortium Partner
$2,500
Supporting Partner
$1,000
*Commissioning fees are structured around actual production costs: score preparation, parts extraction, electronics production, and composer travel.
**PARMA Recordings will be available to discuss recording every consortium partner's live or studio performance through a separate agreement; for those partners who opt for the recording side agreement, one of these recordings will be selected for commercial release on the Navona label. This option is offered to Premium and Consortium Partners.
Category III
Performance Partnership

A Track Record of Institutional Engagement
Lopez has existing relationships with a number of major institutions, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra (Tanglewood Fellowship, 1979), the San Francisco Symphony (through his Berkeley mentor lineage — five of his UC Berkeley composition professors have had works performed by the SFS), the Netherlands Omroep Muziek (which gave the world premiere of his first major work, The Ship of Death, in Hilversum), performance participation in ICMC Boston 2025, and PARMA Recordings / Navona label (active recording partnership — eight current releases with two new recordings to be released in 2026-2027).
